MALL
Mobile Assisted Language Learning, or “MALL” is creating the same buzz in the new millennium that computer-assisted language learning (CALL) created in the 1990s. MALL is language learning using mobile devices such as:
  • cell (mobile) phones (including the iPhone)
  • MP3 or MP4 players (e.g. iPods)
  • Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) (e.g. Palm Pilot, Blackberry, etc.)
The main principles of MALL:

  • it offers a way to access learning materials and to interact with teachers and peers;
  • it involves much more than flexible resource access and an easy way to shorten distances between learners;
  • it includes the incorporation of usage context as a significant learning element;
  • it provides dynamics which are not available through the traditional classroom.

QR codes.

QR-code is a square picture in which information is encoded. It can be plain text, an Internet address, a phone, coordinates of a place, etc. Their special kind makes it easier to read stored data using modern mobile phones equipped with cameras. It is enough to point the camera phone to the code and immediately get access to its contents.

Here is my Quizlet "ПИО. Политика"

Augmented Reality.
Augmented Reality - is an environment with a direct or indirect addition of the physical world to digital data in real time with the help of computer devices - tablets, smartphones and innovative gadgets like Google Glass, as well as software to them.
What are the types of devices:

  • Google Glass - glasses are developed by Google and are a standalone portable device, controlled by voice and gestures.
  • Vuzix Wrap 1200AR and Vizux Smart Glasses M100.

Software
Already, the software for using AR is very diverse. The most famous representatives of the software of augmented reality are the so-called augmented reality browsers and games for mobile platforms - smartphones and tablet PCs on widely used iOS, Android operating systems, as well as Sony PlayStation Vita and Nintendo 3DS and 3DS XL game consoles. The type of software Glass is unknown, and Vuzix Smart Glasses M100 runs on a modified version of Android.

MOOC education

Taken from Wikipedia: MOOC (a massive open online course)  is an online course aimed at unlimited participation and open access via the web. In addition to traditional course materials such as filmed lectures, readings, and problem sets, many MOOCs provide interactive user forums to support community interactions among students, professors, and teaching assistants (TAs). MOOCs are a recent and widely researched development in distance education which were first introduced in 2006 and emerged as a popular mode of learning in 2012.

Earlier I heard some information about online courses, I knew that such courses exist. But I did not know that there are whole sites and platforms dedicated to a variety of courses! I did not know that they can have so many different topics and directions that they can be paid and free. We can choose any topic of interest, suitable for us in terms of time, rules and other factors.

And that is great! You can find interesting and useful information for yourself, without leaving home, find something new, learn new skills or improve old ones, find new ideas for yourself and get a new experience.

The picture shows several sites with online courses. You can choose any site that suits you. You will only have to choose the needed course and that's all, you can dive into the sea of knowledge!

Perhaps, I misunderstood the name of the course, because after reading the content, I was surprised, as I expected other information. Of course, at the moment this course is very difficult for me. Also, I just do not have time for it. But who knows, maybe someday I will return to him, because I am sure that it contains important information for my self-development.

I believe such online courses are very useful for people who do not have the opportunity to get higher education, who want to develop themselves, and who need new knowledge for their current profession or hobby.

Live and learn!

Google services

In addition to web search, Google offers many services and tools for various needs. Also, Google is the author of many scientific, educational and cultural projects.

Most of them are web applications that require from the user only the presence of the browser in which they work, and Internet connections. This allows you to use data anywhere in the world and not be tied to one computer.

The main advantage of Google services is that they are all combined and stay on the same account - the Google account. So, you only need to register once for the opportunity to use personalized web search, e-mail, cloud storage, social networking and many others. Sites comparable to Google in the number of services is quite small.

Also, Google bought a lot of Internet services: YouTube, Picasa, Blogger, Panoramio, introduced a compulsory registration rule in its social network Google+ to create a channel on Youtube.

Sorry, WIKI

From the sources about WIKI, I learned just what it is and what tools there are. I looked through several pages, and, honestly, they seemed boring and uninteresting to me. Also, my antivirus blocked sites when opening links because of the presence of the Trojan program on them😢

Presentations

Finally I finished the work with the presentations. Prior to our seminar, I did not know that there are resources other than Power Point, so I was interested in working with them (although a bit difficult).

The first place where we can create a presentation is Google presentations. One of the simplest services, and it is very similar to Power Point. Here is mine:

The next service is Slideshare.
And the last service is Prezi. It is the most complex and interesting. It contains many different functions, animations, transitions, etc. My presentation.
